Illinois House Bill 32

Illinois House Bill 32
                                                       The Short Story

In the early season of 2005, the Committee became concerned
about the Marina's financial position with respect to major capital
rehab projects.  We became aware that although the management
does an exemplary job of maintaining the facility, additional budget
would be required to better secure their ability to plan for future dock
    replacements, etc.
We generated a petition to the DNR and the governor, outlining our
concerns.  After we acquired 1,050 signatures, it was sent to Springfield.
In 2006, after numerous correspondences with DNR administration,
and an attempted face-to-face meeting with the DNR, the Committee
met with Rep. JoAnn Osmond (61st Dist.) and asked for her help.
The result was her introduction of HB32 into the General Assembly,
which at the date of this writing (Feb. 26), is near passage in the House.
It will then go to the Senate, where four years ago, a similar bill was
killed almost immediately, and where we expect opposition with HB32.
It is imperative that we Committee members and slipholders let our respective
senators and representatives know that we want their support for this bill, by
using the letter template links on this page.  There are also "constituent"
letters for non-committee members.  Please download these and give them
to your friends, neighbors, co-workers.  This will be the most
important action that we can do to get this bill passed!
